Grateful

I am so grateful for ALL that God has done for me! He is SO good, so much better than I deserve. And yet because of what Jesus has done for us, he says we do deserve it, now that is GRACE! And I am so grateful for grace!

He who knew no sin became sin so that we might become the righteousness of God (2 Corinthians 5:21), wow! I find it amazing that when you give your heart to Jesus he returns the favor! So, when God looks your way he sees his son Jesus and he is pleased! Did you know that God doesn’t want to punish you? That’s what Jesus died for! Jesus satisfied the wrath of God and took our place, he took the punishment that should have been on us because of our sin. Because of what Jesus has done God is pleased in us and the only work that God has required of us is to believe!

Will you believe that it’s true today? That God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son that whosoever believes in him shall not perish but have everlasting life (John 3:16). Oh how he loves us! He took our punishment upon him, he dealt with sin, judgment and condemnation all so we don’t have to and so we can enjoy a personal, vibrant relationship with God. This is grace, are you grateful? I am!

Blessings,

John

What do you do when you don’t know what to do?

What do you do when you don’t know what to do?

HAHA That is a funny question! And yet at the same time it is a very serious and real question for all of us at different times in our lives. So what do YOU do?

I know I’ve done many different things but the most rewarding thing I’ve done is this:

Turn to God! Now this looks very different at different times and seasons in my life. There are times I am broken before God with tears but without words. There are other times I am simply still, I get alone in his presence and just “Be” (kind of like king David in Psalm 46:10), “Be still and know that I am God.” And at other times when I don’t know what to do I just start thanking and praising God for who he is and what he’s already done. I thank him and praise him for his goodness and faithfulness to me and for how I know that he knows what I’m suppose to do.

See, he has the answer and when we learn to draw near to him in our uncertainty he often reveals to us the direction in which we should go. As we acknowledge him he will give us his peace and he will lead us by that peace as well. So, when you don’t know what to do turn to the one who knows all, receive his comfort and peace and allow him to lead you so you can confidently make those needed decisions with peace and assurance. (For more on this read 2 Chronicles 20, Proverbs 3:5-6, Isaiah 30:21, Jeremiah 29:11-13, Philippians 4:6-7, Colossians 3:15)

Blessings my friend,

John

Peace Be With You

“If it’s big enough to worry about it’s big enough to pray about”

Seriously! Whether it’s big or small God wants it all! And in exchange for your worry, stress or fear he wants to give you peace. God has been really speaking to me lately about bringing peace to his people in the earth today.

We hear of ISIS, earthquakes, riots and race wars and in the midst of all this God wants to minister his peace to us. I think of Jesus’ words, “You will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not troubled” and “These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.” (Matthew 24:6, John 16:33) And Psalm 85:8 where David says, “I will hear what God the Lord will speak, for he will speak peace to his people and to his saints.”

God is speaking peace to his people. He is ministering peace to our hearts so that no matter what we may be facing we can overcome. So give God your cares today and receive his great peace. “For peace is your portion” says the Lord.

Peace be with you!

~John

This Is My Home

This morning I was sitting on the couch with my middle son Micah and while we were talking and playing I decided to play some worship music on my phone. The last song I played (the night before) was “This is my home” by Jason Upton, so I decided to play it again! As it was playing I quickly felt God’s arms around me even as my arms were around my boy. I felt God’s amazing love for me as I sat there on the couch in his presence and the presence of my son.

Micah then says, “He said this is my home, that’s silly, why did he say that?” I then began to tell him that he is saying his home is with God. That when he is sensing God’s presence he feels like he’s at home. He is loved, he’s happy, he’s comfortable, it’s where he belongs! And at this I began to cry knowing that it’s real! It’s so true! It’s where we belong! Our home is in God! And so I am humbled and grateful today, thanking God for his constant love and his empowering presence. Today I thank God for the sweet joy and deep peace that I have only found in him!

Maybe it’s been awhile for you but my prayer is that today you will come home. Find rest, joy, peace and belonging in his presence today because he loves you and this is your home.

I’m praying for you,

~John

Enter Into My Rest

Can you sense God drawing you closer to himself? There is something happening all over the earth right now. In the midst of riots and earthquakes God is awakening hearts and calling his sons and daughters to draw near to him.

In the same way that we see wars, deaths, fighting and unrest in the natural there is a peace that God is ministering to his people in the Spirit. It is a place of strength from which believers can draw from. I know you feel it, we are in a season of refreshing, outpouring and preparation. God is planning to do great and awesome things in our midst in the coming weeks and months. There will be many people coming to know the Lord in the very near future and not just in other countries around the world but yes even here in the U.S.

So, “Come away with me” the Spirit is saying. Find time to enter into my rest. For I am doing things within you, strengthening you and healing you for I am preparing to use you in greater ways in the coming days. So come and pray, come and wait a while. Remove distractions, consecrate yourself in my presence and I will fill you with great joy! Peace will be your portion. This is my strategy says the Lord, come away with me…
