Goodbye Guilt

Last week I stayed at my sisters house in Ohio for a couple days while visiting. I loved every minute of it being with family (even the early wake up calls from my beautiful niece and nephew). Every time I walked by their entry way I noticed this wonderful piece of Art (actually created by my sister) which read,

“No guilt in life, no fear in death—

This is the power of Christ in me;

From life’s first cry to final breath,

Jesus commands my destiny.”

I’ve always loved this song (In Christ Alone) but I really loved this verse and that it was in the center of her house for all to see! I can imagine ten years from now when her children are teenagers and the Holy Spirit brings these truths to remembrance to help them in times of trouble or twenty five years from now when they’re singing this verse over their own children (by the way, never underestimate the power of truth and love that is sown into the heart of a child)!

Well, ever since I read that it’s stuck with me! God has brought it to my attention everyday sometimes two to three times a day! And at the same time I’ve also felt guilt for no apparent reason (condemnation and false accusations from the enemy). Not only that, I’ve picked up on the feelings of guilt from others. It’s like fear and guilt are in the air.

So, I want to speak to these things right now (so if you’re feeling fear or guilt and know others who are as well I kindly ask that you will agree with me in prayer). “God, I speak to the lies of fear and guilt that the enemy is sowing and right now in Jesus name I take authority over them! They have no place in the hearts of your children. Rather in place of those things I speak joy and peace! I pray that our hearts will overflow with your love and goodness. Bring a confidence in knowing that we are loved, forgiven and saved! Who the sons sets free is free indeed and God we are free! Thank you Lord, and it’s in Jesus name we pray, amen!”

Remember: No guilt in life and no fear in death!

Blessings,

John

What Jesus said about Honor and what it means for us today.

In Mark chapter six we find Jesus returning to his hometown after traveling the region teaching with great wisdom and working countless miracles. However in this chapter it’s recorded that Jesus could not do any miracles there… Wow! Jesus, the very Son of God – unable to do any miracles! Why? Well, as Jesus put it, “Only in his hometown, among his relatives and in his own house is a prophet without honor.” (Mark 6:4).

All because of a lack of honor these people were left sick, in need and without divine assistance. They judged Jesus on what they thought they knew about him and therefore were offended with the idea that he could be more than what they assumed he was. They treated him as common and therefore missed the blessings the Father was trying to get to them.

The same is true for us today: When we treat God and His Word as common we limit their benefits in our lives. God is wanting to bless you and he often desires to bless you in ways that you least expect. What we need the most often comes in packages that we least expect. This is why honor is so important in our world today. We miss out on what God has for us when we treat people as common, but when we choose to honor others we now position ourselves to receive from them. According to 1 Peter 2:17 We’re called to, “Honor all men.” From our parents to our spouses, from our authorities to our neighbors, from our friends to our enemies, even strangers. When we do we position ourselves to receive what God desires to give us (even through the most unlikely sources). Today I challenge you to Honor God, His Word, His Presence and the people in your life. This simply means that you value them, you treat them with regard, you deem them important and what they say carries weight. I truly believe that blessings from heaven will freely flow into your life as honor is restored within your heart.

And today I honor you and thank you for who you are and for allowing me to speak into your lives.

Blessings my friends,

John

God Loves You!

I’ve been walking with God for 15 years now! It’s crazy that it’s been that long… He loved me before I ever had a thought of him and he’s loved me since! In my pride, in my struggle, regardless of any sin my God has taken delight in me! WOW! What a powerful truth I’ve come to learn: God loves me at my best and he loves me at my worst!

Thank you God for your incredible love towards me! Right now I pray for all those reading this that they will grow in their understanding of your great love for them. Yes God, may they come to know that you love them in their sin, in their struggle, in their addiction and in their unbelief. Open their hearts and powerfully minister your great love! May they come to the fullness of the knowledge of Christ. Thank you God!

Oh open your hearts today! Forget the distractions of the world! Give God your worry, your opinions and your concern. He loves you more than you know! God loves you at your best and he loves you at your worst…God loves you! Be encouraged by this truth! May it lead you to great peace, joy and freedom!

God loves you!!! This is the message we need to focus on! His love that draws people to repentance (to change their minds). We need to pray and ask God for a greater revelation of his love for us, our children, the church and America.

“Thank you Jesus for your constant love, thank you for your love that never fails! Fill hearts across this nation and around the world with your great love, amen!”

Blessings my friends,

John

Forgiveness in Charleston

I’ve been enjoying the last couple days off work, starting my mornings slow, playing legos with my boys and cracking up as my little girl cracks me up! But even in the midst of these sweet moments with my children something else weighs on my heart and mind…

The families of those tragically killed in Charleston. I feel deep pain and sorrow and at the same time I feel as if they will be remembered forever. I (along with Christians all across our nation) have been praying for Charleston, their families, friends, the surrounding churches and the community.

Then this morning I came across something powerful! A good friend posted this video on Facebook and I had to share! Please take a few minutes and watch this today, it may just be one of the most powerful things you’ve ever seen!
